WHAT IS A HOVERING TRAIL?

HOVERING TRAILS is a flexible and environmentally friendly footpath system, WHICH MINIMIZES CONTACT POINTS WITH THE GROUND, THUS PROTECTING SENSITIVE NATURAL GEMS from being squashed while facilitating access of large numbers of people to popular travellers‘ sites.

The footpath system can be used in various places and is adaptable to different situations og needs.

The uniqueness of the design lies in the possibility of installing the trails without damaging the ground. The aim is to adapt the man-made to the nature and minimize damage to nature, as well as minimize negative visual effects of the operation.

The path “rises” from the ground, preventing the land from being damaged.

Due to the V-shaped forms of the structural parts, the soil under the trail is visible and enjoys the access of light. This enables the moss and the heather to be maintained. In a nature reserve, it is important for the project to be reversible. In many places, gravel paths, asphalt and wooden paths have provided inadequate results.

Hovering trails can protect the land from encroachment in the most incredible places and return it untouched many decades later.

The operation is completely reversible and the units can easily be moved years later if needed. The durability is counted in decades. An excellent anti-slip protection is included, as well as built-in lighting and wheelchair access.

GUARDRAILS

The rails are made of vertical aluminium posts, which are screwed into the units as needed. The rails are quite quick to install and it is possible to have them just on one side of the path or both sides. It is simple to add or move a rail. A stainless 10 mm steel wire ensures safety and can be used as handrail. A cylindrical wooden handle is slided over the wire where it is wanted for more comfortable purposes or to mark a viewing area. There are three possible solutions by which to close the gap under the handrails: 1) with three vertical wires (low risk), 2) with a net made of Dynice material where the risk is quite high or 3) with a net of steel wires where there is danger to life. The handrails are 1,2 meters high where the falling hight is high, but otherwise they are 0,9 meter high.

INFORMATION SIGNS

We offer three kinds of information signs. The bigger one  is 150 cm x 22 cm and the smaller one is 70 cm x 22 cm. The signs are fastened at the same places and in similar way as the handrails, making many options possible, keeping the cost low, and making it easy to set up and move around. Printed material is pasted on aliminum plates in a print shop and then screwed to the posts on the spot. A casing for lighting above the signs is included.

LIGHTING ON THE FOOTPATHS

Adjustable recessed LED stripes are allowed for in handrails and purpose-made posts, which are in the same style as the handrails.

It is possible to include pathway lighting to use in the dark in order to direct people the right way, while keeping at the same time the light pollution as low as possible." The light is directed where it is considered a security matter, such as where hollows, hot springs, cliffs, and so on is to find near the footpath. With recessed lighting it is possible to avoid disturbance of the environment, like when lamp post are used. By using a soflt lighting like this near the surface, the light pollution is minimized.

The picture shows some ways of possible lighting.
